I can't compete with this. There are many things to love about Italy. But it's public finance is not one of them. I thought everybody knew this.I think the only explanation is that Krugman has discovered that being a political (let's use the charitable term) advocate and not trying very hard to tell a coherent economic story that would begin to persuade anybody who does not already agree with him, is a fulfilling lifestyle.
